Working Towards Licensure As A Social Worker:
The State of Georgia requires that before a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) can be considered for examination to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), he or she must complete 120 hours of clinical supervision. You do not have to receive all of your hours from a LCSW.
Georgia also requires any LMSW providing social work services in the state to be under supervision during their first two years of social work experience.
We provide affordable and obtainable clinical supervision for those who are looking to obtain their license in clinical social work (LCSW). Getting clinical supervision is such an important aspect of growing as a clinician. During this process, your clinical supervisor will monitor and maintain ethical standards and responsibilities while creating a learning environment that supports you in reaching the next level of licensure. What you can expect during supervision with me:
- Ethical, consistent, and professional supervision in one-hour or 4-hour increments depending on individual or group supervision
- Development of clinical supervision goals tailored to each individual supervisee
- Ability to discuss career goals and prepare for professional milestones such as LCSW testing
- Promotion of supervisee developmental growth through teaching
- Assistance with building knowledge and consolidating therapeutic skills
- Assistance with tracking and logging supervision hours
Working Towards Licensure As A Counselor:
All applicants are required to take and pass either the National Counselor Examination (NCE) OR the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) offered by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).
The purpose of supervision is to promote the development of the practitioner’s clinical skills. Supervision may include, without being limited to, the review of case presentations, audiotapes, videotapes, and direct observation of the practitioner’s clinical skills. Supervision does not require the supervisor to be present at the work site with the supervisee. Supervision may be provided pro bono or for a fee. Both supervisors and supervisees are required to maintain a contemporaneous record of the date, duration, type (individual, paired, or group), and a brief summary of the pertinent activity for each supervision session to be submitted to the Board upon request. If there are any discrepancies in hours, contemporaneous documentation of supervision will be requested.
You can find more information about requirements for licensure for each career path here through the Georgia Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists.
We will touch on much more during this process, but our main goal is to help support you professionally!
We want to ensure that supervision remains affordable and accessible. Supervision can be done virtually or in person, depending on your preference. Individual supervision is $55/hour, and Group supervision is $45/hour.
If you are ready to start, reach out to us and we will set up a time to discuss your supervision goals.
